We’ve heard that we are living in an epidemic of loneliness. But there’s another, darker component to the curse of loneliness and isolation.
It’s rage.
We live in a society of enraged people.
Now, I get it. There’s plenty to be enraged about when you look at the state of our planet.
But in day-to-day life? That’s where we’ve let it get a little out of hand.
From unchecked road rage to how almost everyone online seems to moonlight as nasty comments troll, we need to take a minute and breathe.
My best advice?
Stop looking for reasons to be enraged.
Even things that deserve our attention and rage (ceasefire, stripping of human rights, etc.), do not need to consume every moment of our lives.
How we feel about the super ridiculous and scary politics of a certain party should not fill our days with hate and anger.
A “hot take” on social media that infuriates you to no end? Let it burn and put the phone down.
We need to focus on channeling this energy towards something positive.
- How can we contribute to a solution?
- Seek out solutions.
- Contribute to solutions.
Then get back to the daily art of finding beauty in small moments.
Life is hard but life is also beautiful. I’d hate to think we look back on our lives in the final moments and see all the ways we chose rage over peace.
