Getting Shucked Up : (Oysters, Divorce, Vermouth)

It was a divorce 2 years in the making.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries Reach Divorce Settlement (EOnline) – It’s about time.  It seems a little funky that this reports Kris as “excited” to move on, even though he was the one pushing for an annulment all along, but maybe the bigger disgrace of this article is the outfit Kim is pictured in.  Sigh. As I said before, she’s clearly having a girl.  Who wants to bet on it?

It’s the end of a crazy week, and what a way to end it last night.  Did you watch the minute-to-minute coverage of the Boston bombing suspect’s apprehension?  It was intense.  I know I’m still emotionally recovering from it.  A fresh week begins tomorrow, and we’re all ready for something new.  I probably wished for new stuff a little too hard, because life threw me a personal “WHAAAA_T_F” this week.. more details on that later… but it’s pretty cray.  I’ll need to keep an adventurous spirit for such change.  It’s Saturday night.  Let’s get adventurous.

Martini Bianco My Way (The Winegetter) – I love a perfectly mixed martini, but I’ve never had the guts to pour myself just a glass of vermouth.  If anyone knows how to make it tasty, it’s my friend, the Winegetter, and he does it with Martini Bianco.

7 Things No One Tells You About Moving to a New Country (Cracked) – I’m not going to say that this has something to do with my crazy news this week, but I’m not going to say that it doesn’t, either.  No matter what, it’s a good read.

How to Shuck Oysters at Home (Food & Wine) – There’s a lot of things I’m uncomfortable with making at home: most baked goods, sushi, or anything that requires more than 30 minutes of my time.  Oysters don’t necessarily require that much time, but they are a mystic seafood that can go very, very wrong if not purchased fresh from a trusted source.  Hence, their adventurousness.  Oysters are my new favorite thing of the moment.

Adventurous Spring Makeup Trends with Celeb Makeup Artist Julianne Kaye (The Fashion Spot) – I’m ashamed to say, I still wear black or grey most days, and I always have my go to makeup bag for the same old tones and colors, every day, regardless of my mood, the season, or the country I’m currently living in (shhhh don’t worry about it.)  This post from The Fashion Spot reminds us that spring is a great time to shake things up.

Hey, thanks for the repost!! Remember, it is not what usually goes into your drinks. I don’t think I could drink dry Vermouth straight: Martini Bianco is a sweetened version. 🙂 Give it a try if you can! (Plum Market sells the bottle for 7 bucks, I think.
