Farewell 30 Rock With a Side of Flowers and a Fake Proposal

The finale of one of my favorite shows is happening…. now.  I am on DVR standby until my husband returns from ordering us a rice cooker.  That’s big excitement around here.  I’m pretty bummed to say goodbye to 30 Rock.  That means I have about 2 shows that I sort of care about now.  What show is an absolutely must-adopt?  I’m a TV junkie, but it’s got to be the good stuff.  Well written, likable characters, witty.  Or, a reality show.

Top 12 Most Absurd 30 Rock Moments (DailyBeast) – Please scroll to “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah”, a reference that once got me into trouble at a party.

THURSDAY HELPINGS:

Beyonce on Lip Syncing at Inauguration (NPR) – Thatta girl.  Everyone can de-bunch their panties now.  I’m very much looking forward to her Super Bowl performance because perfectionists can’t sleep if it’s not done right.

What Not to do When You’re Stressed (HuffingtonPost) – It seems in my world, I get one good day and a succession of stressful ones, so I thought this might be a good list.  I’m not totally sure I agree with all of this, because I almost ALWAYS feel better after chatting with one of my best friends, or having a giant margarita.

J.J. Watt Proposes to 6 Year Old Football Fan (People) – I guess this Houston Texans player has nothing to do in his off season other than contribute to the future therapy bills of this child.  I believed in love since day one, so if at 6, my crush (Patrick Swayze or Peter Pan) ever fake proposed to me, I would have held them to it.  Creepy! #Texas

Item of the Day: Brussels Sprouts (Hello Giggles) - In an effort to balance out some of the fatty discretions I’ve shared with you lately, welcome to my October/November/December 2012 obsession.  Much like the author of this article, I never hated brussels sprouts growing up because my mom hated them for the both of us.  Which means, as a ripe old adult, I tried them for the first time and wanted nothing else.  I like to roast mine until they are so crunchy, I pretend they are french fries.

How and Why Flowers Make You Happy (InBloom.info) – Winter seems like the appropriate time to really hunker down and take care of yourself, and some voice out of the deep blue yonder said to me recently, “buy yourself some flowers!”  Yes, I felt guilty spending the $8.99 for this peppy little pot, but then I saw how sad it was to not spend $8.99.  Everyone needs a little bright, living goodness in their homes.  It’s science.  I feel better already.

Port Charles Infiltrates Port Charles, Juice Cleanses, and Kardashian Kravings

I am feeling pretty excited about life today. Here are a few reasons why:

Erin Hershey Presley Returns to GH as Alison Barrington(Daytime Confidential) - I almost peed my pants. I am geeking out pretty badly over all of the Port Charles people infiltrating, uh, the other Port Charles. I realize I was one of like 10 people who watched the now defunct spin-off of General Hospital, but I am getting more and more excited with each familiar face I see return to the canvas. I am a little hesitant though, not about the vampire stuff (I loved that, long before it was “cool” to. I’m dorky), but because I’m afraid it will turn off viewers who aren’t all about it. I trust Ron Carlivati and am super excited to tune in the next few days.

Also, I finally received this:Image

I am itching to link you up to a series of interviews by the talented Nina Barone, of buffalofoodie.com featuring the one, the only, my mom! She semi-gave her permission, so I’m probably just going to go ahead and do that if I can access the article via buffalospree.com come February 1st. Friday. Thank goodness. I’m so over January!

There’s a big Top Chef tonight, the last 30 Rock, ever, tomorrow, and the Super Bowl on Sunday. We’ll have a lot to talk about these next few days now, won’t we?

WEDNESDAY HELPINGS:

My 3 Day Juice Cleanse(Health.com) - I am totally fascinated by the juice cleanse. The 3 day, the 10 day, the partial… juicing in general fascinates me, and I am reaching for new reasons to play with my wedding present juicer. What’s held me back so far is fear, and expense. I decided to say, who cares, and invested in some extra produce to work more fresh juices into my diet. I’ve gotten a lot of tips from friends who are doing it and I’ll be sharing those tips, plus other things I’m finding online as I go. Here’s a taste.

Kris Jenner Reveals Kim Kardashian’s Pregnancy Cravings (HuffingtonPost) – Why this important? Trick question. It’s not important at all. I just figured you might be wondering.

Ashton Kutcher Nearly Identical to Steve Jobs (HuffingtonPost) – Creepy! #toosoon.

The Ann Arbor Sampler: Seeking Adult Female for Wine Happy Hours, Pedicure Dates, Bad Reality Show Viewing, and All Around Best Friend Duties

(That is a real ad for my new best friend.)  Shameless.

Moving to a new city as an adult isn’t easy.  We see the idealistic perspective in movies, when a moderately+ attractive woman moves to big city for fancy job in large skyscraper and already built-in sassy, like minded roommate.  In reality, we move for various reasons whether they be career or personal.  Sometimes we know people at the new location, sometimes we’re starting from scratch.  I’ve been an observer of this conundrum and I have also experienced it personally.  From what I’ve seen, there are three scenarios:

1) You know at least one to two people in your new life, and those people open you up to another social scene built of friends they already have.  Boom.  Done.

2) You know hardly anyone, but meet (and are somewhat limited to) the people built into your new lifestyle.  Maybe co-workers, maybe students in your degree program, maybe other new moms, etc.

3) You are a hermit and spend most days with your TV and a bowl of pasta.

Since moving to Michigan in 2009, I’ve experienced in some way, all of the above.  I started with #3, and pasta and I became great friends.  Too close, really.  I’m still dealing with the fallout of our unhealthy relationship.  Then, after entering a Master’s program, I of course, met a group of people.  This was a group of maybe 30 people, and I saw them every. single. day.  Same ones.  This was great at the time, I and I felt thankful for the opportunity (sorry, pasta!)  As time went on, I realized that just because I had a new built in “social life”, didn’t mean I actually truly connected with these 30 people, and I wasn’t even sure I wanted to hang out with most of them.  I was lucky to pull a handful of friendships from this, and as it was a grad school program, many of these people moved on and moved out.  Some of the people I met introduced me to other people they knew and again, I was grateful.  Yet, very few of these connections actually clicked.

I’ve met great people since arriving in the Midwest, still I can’t help but yearn for the same kinds of close relationships I have waiting for me back home.  Granted, these are relationships I’ve had for years, people who really know me, get me, accept me, and all that jazz.  I treasure them.  I also know that whether it’s this town or another new town, I want to make new connections that I also treasure.

So what’s a grown person to do?  I have quite literally brainstormed an idea for a “dating” style website for platonic friendships only, but then remembered how gross people are, and how that could turn into the wrong thing, quickly!  I will be totally honest, in my sampler search, I mostly found weird, creepy people searching for God knows what, under the guise of friendship.  Here’s what I can pass along:

Friends Meetup Near Ann Arbor (meetup.com) – Meetup is a site where you can find things to do with people who have the same interests in cities around the country.  This link is for Ann Arbor, which means you’re going to find meet ups for vegetarians and meet ups for a UFC fight.  Just your general mixture.

New Creative Social Club Combines Art/Socializing for Fun Fridays (annarbor.com) – Those who aren’t interested on hitting on potential friends in the bar scene might enjoy something like this.  A fun activity, potential to meet new friends, and if you hate everyone, at least you get a piece of art to take home.

Ann Arbor Rec and Ed Classes – I’m starting to think the best way to meet people when you really have no other method is just putting yourself out there, getting over yourself or your fear of meeting super weirdos and just doing something.  I know people that have joined big-team programs like weekly soccer games or a yoga class and have connected with people there.  A local Recreation program may be the way to go.  One semester at a time, and generally not too crazy expensive.  I plan to partake in a new yoga class.  I am planning to leave with at least 4 new yoga friends in the spring.

Snow Day Small Plates of Ryan Gosling, Kale, And Money Saving Secrets

Today is a much better day.  It was a SNOW DAY!  There are some perks to being in the education field, and that is certainly one of them.  When you receive a free mental health day (or in my case, a mental and physical health day, because I’m sick AGAIN), use it wisely.  Care for yourself.  Make warm things in your Crock Pot and watch movies that have been sitting in your DVR queue forever.  Spend hardly any time thinking about what you’ll be blogging about later.  That’s what I did.

Ryan Gosling Casts Actors in Michigan (Brighton Patch) - There are a few perks of living in Michigan, such as lower movie-making taxes.  I actually was under the impression the powers that be had gotten rid of that tax break, but it seems certain productions are firing up around here again.  Rumor has it, Ryan was spending time at my new favorite Detroit spot, Cafe D’Mongo a few weeks ago.  I’m going to have to do a better job keeping my eyes peeled!  PS…

Image

Kale (Food&Wine) - I’ve had about 3 experiences with kale now, and they were all yucky.  Still, it’s the hottest healthy food of the moment and I want it to be my friend.  Here are a few more interesting ways to sample it.

Kind Quickies: 10 Tips for Curing a Cold (The Kind Life) – Sick for the 6th time this month?  I hear that.  Here are a few extreme (vegan style) ideas for kicking it.  I’m about to try anything.

‘Real Money’ Secrets for Making Groceries Last Longer (ABCNews) – I shudder to think what I will spend when there are more than 2 people to feed in my household.  So far, my big contribution to saving grocery money was forcing my husband to switch to skim milk.  I really need this list.

You’re Invited To The Pity Party. There Will Be Pizza, Sleeping, And Red Velvet Trifle

I am straight up cranky today, y’all. That may have just been the first time I’ve ever said “ya’ll.” What’s with me today?! It’s a cold, grey Sunday, and I am not looking forward to returning to the blah life tomorrow. Believe me, I get it, life is what you make of it, but sometimes, it just gets tiring trying to make it all the time. Wa- wa- wahhhhhhhhh. Okay, I’ll knock it off with the pity party. In order to cut it out, I’m going to need some pretty strong self-help samplers, fattening comfort food recipes, and maybe some celebrity gossip. I’ll see what I can do.

SUNDAY HELPINGS:

Lessons from Mark Bello: How to Make Pizza at Home (Food&Wine)Mark Bello makes his living helping others make the perfect pizza. Now, take his advice home with you and get tips for all the ingredients, crust texture, and cheese amount. Or, say screw it and get the $7 LC Hot-N-Ready. Your choice.

The 7 Best Wellness Books for 2013 (Well+Good NYC) – With everything from weight loss tips (plug your ears, it’s Jillian Michaels), bringing sexy back, and mind-body wellness, you should be in much better shape by 2014, at the earliest.

7 Easy Things You Can Do For Faster, Better Sleep (Well+Good NYC) – I’m giving you a twofer of Well+Good because they seem to be reading my mind today. A fast arriving, better sleep? I think there are few people out there who don’t need that. I am definitely one guilty of squeezing out those last obsessive social media moments before docking my phone for the night!

How to Maximize Joy in Everyday Luxuries (Oprah) – Sometimes we’re good at this, sometimes we’re not. Notice, I did not see doing dishes on this list.

Snooki Loses 44 Lbs. After Pregnancy (People) - It seems like if Snooki can do it, anyone can. It seems like if Snooki can do anything at all, the rest of the population should also be able to, right?

Red Velvet Trifle Recipe (Paula Deen) – When you’re feeling down, I’m sorry, you gotta have real butter. Who better to go to than Ms. Paula Deen for something super bad, but super tasty. As soon as I get my perfect trifle dish…

The Ann Arbor Sampler: Detroit – The Fillmore Detroit/Flogging Molly, The Town Pump, Cafe D’Mongo

I’ve got a lot of living to do, which means getting out of the house, and heading down to the D.  Detroit has long been shat upon for its deserted streets, crime, and overall blight.  I know that’s not made up, I won’t be naive about it.  Part of the Ann Arbor Sampler project is to get around to other parts of Michigan and see it all, for the good, bad, ugly, and impressive hidden potential.  I believe Detroit has a lot of that, and I’m kind of excited to get educated about it.  In saying that, I have to give a shout out to a friend who has been harping on me for years to experience Detroit.  He knows who he is.  Sorry it took me so long!

Our night began with heavy traffic, a pleasant surprise for nighttime in the D thanks to the concert, a Redwings game, and the Detroit Auto Show.  There is a magical spark in the air that I imagine is reminiscent of Detroit’s glory days, when it was the place to see and be seen.  We skipped the street parking hunt in favor of a cozy lot across from our starter location, The Town Pump.  It wasn’t until we walked in that I realized I’ve been there before, and watched a crazy old man dance with himself in front of a mirror all night.  Priceless.  Tonight, however, the TP was filled with pre-concert/pre-hockey patrons partaking in reasonably priced pub fare.  The TP is framed with wooden walls, topped with a tin ceiling, and maybe could use just a few more seating options.  We were lucky to get one of the last corner tables that could fit more than 2 people.  I went with cheap beer and a hand spun BBQ chicken pizza.  The crust was delicious and thick, just the way I like it.  Our friends ordered a half pound burger, and the “fire chicks”, which looked a little like “Cap’n Crunch” style fried chicken on a stick.  I’ll be honest, it looked like the weakest link of our meal experience.  I did not take pictures because my focus was on the cheap beer.

Onward we went to our main destination, The Fillmore Detroit to take in a Flogging Molly show.  First time at the Fillmore, fourth time with Flogging Molly, I was anxious to see what kind of impression the experience would make.  After a thorough pat down at the door (prepare to have your bras snapped, ladies!) we entered the grand foyer which was grand indeed.  Originally opened in 1925 as a movie house, the Fillmore has been restored to it’s original grandeur with ornately decorated walls and ceilings, and numerous chandeliers.  My husband noted the decor’s Roman influence, but pointed out the giant suits of armor on either side of the stage might be a tad misplaced.  The theater itself was no different,  impressive with it’s tiered standing area, and a far reaching balcony with theater seating above.  It definitely won me over.

Sweet pic, I know. This is not a photography site.

image_4 image_5 image_6

There are lots of bars within the venue to grab an (overpriced, but what do you expect) drink, relatively clean restrooms with an attendant, and plenty of helpful yet non-overbearing security to tell you where the bathroom is.  I am already looking forward to our next show there.

When we arrived, the first thing I heard was the beautiful acoustic sounds of Dave Hause.  Immediately, I recognized his voice, likely from one of the seasonal music compilations that are created within my family every year.  My cousins are big fans, and I can see why.  Great voice, great “nostalgic” lyrics, and he also picked on someone for texting right in front of him.  I quickly put my phone away and remained nervous for the rest of his set.

Dave Hause

Dave Hause

The following opener, London-based Skinny Lister was a boisterous Irish band with a Pogues-like influence .  Although I was digging a lot of their songs, I (along with most people around me) were mostly distracted by the dancing lady flailing about on stage.  Her instrument seemed to be a giant jug, presumably filled with booze that she would wave around wildly when not doing interpretive-style dancing to each song.  We all imagined she was the girlfriend of a band member, looking for a reason to be on tour with her man.  Keep looking, honey.  Get yourself a tambourine or washboard, then let’s talk.  That’s mean, I’m sorry.  But it’s kind of true.

Skinny Lister. Guess who thinks she's the star of the show?

Skinny Lister. Guess who thinks she’s the star of the show?

When Flogging Molly finally graced the stage to the ever-rousing recording Teenage Wasteland, I was excited, despite it not being my first rodeo.  FM is an extremely ambitious group of Irish punk rockers, fronted by Dave King.  I am a little embarrassed to acknowledge that I didn’t know of their tight connection to Detroit, as it turns out Dave and his crazy-talented wife Bridget split their time between a home here, and one overseas in Ireland.  It added to the evening when Dave told the crowd he wouldn’t have to worry about driving tonight, since he’s already home.  He proceeded to take a giant swig of Guinness.  He introduced several members of his family that were present, including his father and mother-in-law, waiting in the wings.  It was nice to be included in a “hometown” show with one of my favorite bands.

Flogging Molly did not disappoint.  They played some of my favorite tunes, including all the best oldies: Drunken Lullabies, Selfish Man, The Seven Deadly Sins, Rebels of the Sacred Heart, Devil’s Dance Floor, and the one I was crossing my fingers for, Within a Mile of Home.  I can close my eyes and see my street in Buffalo as it plays.  I listen to that song, perfectly timed to end as I pull into my driveway, every time (cheese factor!!)  I was also happy to hear some of my newer favorites like Float and The Power’s Out.  For a fourth time concert, I couldn’t have been happier.  I look forward to the fifth!

image image_1 image_3image_2

After the concert, we decided to take the five block stroll to a bar that my husband recalled having “free sloppy joes and jazz music in the corner.”  The Cafe D’Mongo Speakeasy is located in what I’d call a nook, across from a strip club and next door to Detroit’s only synagogue.  Unique!  We were greeted by a sweet older woman, who informed us that there was standing room only.  Wow, is probably the best word I have for this place.  It had character, for sure, with all kinds of dusty knick-knacks on the walls, a jumpsuit that may or may not have been worn by Michael Jackson electrical taped to the wall, and lots of pictures of the owner, who also greeted us as soon as we walked in.  Despite the obvious wear and tear on the place, it obviously has Detroit draw, packed to the gills patrons from all walks of life.  The band in the corner consisted of 3 guys, none of them particularly fancy looking, with a love of classic rock.  This was not your typical cover band people.  These guys really had heart.  I wish I could link you up to their website, but can’t find much about them anywhere!

The friendly bartenders made sure we were serviced right away, and when 2 seats finally opened at the bar, the owner quickly ushered my friend and I to have a seat.  It was a welcome seat, after hours of standing!  I could have stayed there til close.  I would absolutely return in search of the elusive free sloppy joe, which we never did find!  I’d love to find out more about this gem- their website currently seems to be down.

It’s easy to see that I loved my night out in the D.  I can’t wait to share more adventures with you in the coming months!

Love In The Lanes, A Detroit Love Affair, And Other Lost Cities

Good morning sunshines!  I mean, afternoon.  I did not leave my bed for an inappropriate amount of time.  It was good.  Although I seem to be sick AGAIN.  Pretty ticked about that.  I emerged and was treated to this gem, which I believe is the pinnacle of good marketing.

ESPN “Love the Lanes” ft. Busta Rhymes and Mariah Carey – This. Is. Amazing.  For one, I forgot about this song, and it’s even better in 2013.  Two, I really, really want to watch bowling now.  That’s a first for me.

Image

SATURDAY HELPINGS:

My late start was thanks to another unforgettable night in Detroit including good friends, a concert, and some imbibing.  I’ll share more about that later, but it’s reminding me what a great town Detroit is, despite its never ending struggles.  I find that I relate to it so much more than Ann Arbor.  I like the blue collar feel, I like a bunch of people in one city that are united in the fight and like to commiserate together.  I might have to move closer if I remain in the state of Michigan.

The ‘Other’ Corktown (Eat It Detroit) – My new love affair with Detroit is going to need a lot of guidance.  I don’t know much about the best nooks and crannies (some because I’m scared of them).  It’s not really our fault that we’re conditioned to be scared of what we don’t know, especially a place like the D, but I find I enjoy my adventures there every time.  This is an awesome site with the best of what’s going down in the Motor City.  I will frequent it often.

Death of the Foodstagram (Mashable) - I got this tip from the Eat it Detroit blog, crazy!  Turns out some restaurants are now banning customers from taking food pics.  I get it, it’s kind of rude in the same way it’s rude to sit texting at the dinner table.  I am always embarrassed to do it (thus my hurried, shadowed photography) and feel like it distracts from the general good time flow of a meal, but still- let’s not get our panties in a twist! I still love you NYC.

Top 10 Lost Cities (Listverse) – Relief!  Detroit, nor Buffalo makes this list!  Instead, some of the more exotic lost cities of the world, and I’m pleased to say I’ve visited at least one, and my husband has visited another! (*UPDATE- he informs me he’s visited THREE of these locations.  How dare I!)  The perks of being married to an archaeologist…

How Argyle Became Part of North Carolina’s Jerseys (The Dagger) – Something weird happened to me.  I’ve come to like and want to follow college basketball.  I actually (shh) find it more entertaining than college football.  Maybe it’s the upcoming brackets that gives us something to look forward to or my love of interactive sports games.  Anyways, I recommend this site because it gives you the rankings and info. with a side of fashion, stories about people getting their face stomped on, etc.  I need variety.

The Ann Arbor Sampler – Sadako

As I visit and revisit Ann Arbor’s dining scene, there are some spots I know will always be consistently satisfying, no matter when I go. Sadako is one of those places.
20130125-180236.jpg
When I have a craving for sushi (always), I want quality AND quantity. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I’ve been to many other places that feature one or the other, but less often, both. At Sadako, the menu is stocked with your favorite sushi rolls, plus many other exciting specialties that aren’t going to cost you as much as an entire pizza. Because Sadako is located on S. University on the U of M campus, it’s always bustling with money savvy students, and the young professional crowd at lunch time.

The atmosphere at Sadako is friendly and casual, without making you feel that you’re in a student-filled cafeteria.

As soon as your order is placed, you’re presented with a piping hot miso soup and a crispy Japanese salad. Complimentary! If you happen to find yourself at a sushi place that doesn’t give you free soup and salad, they had better be serving you the sushi platter of your life! Sadako’s miso soup is well seasoned and full of tofu and seaweed. Tasty and satisfying. Typically, I pass on the salad because of my indifference about the ginger dressing, but this time I gave it a shot and was pleased with the tangy, not too bitter creamy flavor. PS I was starving.
20130125-175857.jpg
I always feel guilty at Sadako for my inability to order something other than sushi, simply because the sushi is so great that I’m never craving anything else! Today, my husband and I shared a platter of basics and an assortment of fried rolls. We were looking to be filled up! We chose a California roll, spicy tuna roll, spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, and a sunny roll. Everything was fresh and delicious. The fried rolls were delicate, not greasy, and very satisfying. The sunny roll, which included cream cheese melted in our mouths, almost to the point where we wished for a little more texture, perhaps some asparagus or cucumber.
20130125-180638.jpg
20130125-180738.jpg
Our server was prompt and patient when we decided to order another roll after our initial requests.
20130125-180916.jpg

+ Sadako is the place to go for sushi if you like fresh fish, a large, budget friendly menu, prompt, friendly service, and a casual dining atmosphere. Try one of their Don bowls and let me know what you think!

- Sadako is not for you if you hate the college student scene, or are not in the mood to find parking. Usually we find a spot out front, but on busy evenings, you’ll have to either hunt out a street spot or park in the structure a block away.

Sadako is located at 1321 S. University Avenue in Ann Arbor

It’s Never Too Early For Happy Hour

Am I already thinking about drinking? Yes. It comes along with the nature of my job. Am I considering a Bloody Mary with my lunch today? Why yes, yes I am.

While we wait for 5PM, let’s try and laugh it off with some classic Jimmy Kimmel. Of the late night guys, Kimmel was barely on my radar until the last couple of years when I really took some time to appreciate the uniqueness of his show, including the numerous celebrity cameos (always gets me), and my favorite, The Week In Unnecessary Censorship. I heard JK on NPR’s Fresh Air yesterday, and feel pretty happy for him that he was finally bumped back to 11:30. Well deserved!

If you’re familiar with the show, JK has forever had a running Matt Damon joke. Last night, Matt had his revenge.

Winter Fashion, Sundance Film Festival Fun, and Ponies in Sweaters, Hurray!

Exciting things about today include that it’s nearly Friday, that Friday I’ll be taking in (another) Flogging Molly show at The Fillmore in Detroit, that I made it out to at least one restaurant for Ann Arbor restaurant week, and that my mom is being featured in a magazine. I’m not allowed to talk about that last one, but I can’t help be proud of my famous mama.  Lucky for her, I’m not in the 716, and so far, unable to get my hands on a copy!  A friend of mine posted today that there are 54 days until spring.  For some reason, that made me feel hopeful.  In the meantime, let’s keep looking for fun in the “white hot winter.”  That’s lame.  I stole it from E!. I’m trying.

Sundance Film Festival (People) – If you’re not sure how to look cute/silly/well coifed during these long, cold nights, take notes on this adorable flip book of celebrities tolerating the cold for one entire week, in their million dollar ski chalets.

Winter is for Streamlined Silhouettes (Lace and Lavendar) - Fall is normally my favorite fashion time of the year, full of boots and scarves and jackets.  Winter is a time many of us generally get a tad frumpy, and this is a great reminder how to avoid the ever unflattering layered wool pudge (cinched waists, my friends.)

Affordable Cuts of Beef (Food & Wine) - If you happen to be in love with a red meat enthusiast, you might find this one informative.  Though I’m not a big steak fan myself, I sometimes aspire to surprise my guy with a deliciously, perfectly cooked hunk of beef.  Problem is, one, we’re a little on the non-rich side, and two, I know nothing about cuts of meat.  Hence, this helpful article.

Elizabeth Banks Separates the Moms From the “Real” Moms (Hello Giggles) - Though not a mom yet, I fantasize about it plenty.  Mostly because I work in a school where I am constantly shaking my head at my perceived lack of parenting going on these days.  I have big plans for how to not fail my children.  Still, I know motherhood is not a picnic everyday, and this article is refreshingly honest look at how even the people who have it “easy” are struggling just like us “normal” people.

Ponies Wearing Sweatahs (Cute Overload) – You read correctly, and it’s exactly what you’d imagine.  Happy Winter!
